Sixth Form - A Level: Age 16 – 18
Students progressing into the Sixth Form follow a rigorous schedule and expectations of success are high. We offer a variety of subjects at A Level which lead to Higher Education possibilities worldwide.
A sixth form college is an educational institution, where students aged 16 to 19 typically study for advanced school-level qualifications, such as A Levels, Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, or school-level qualifications such as General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations
Lower sixth On to “A” Level
Access to the Sixth Form to begin preparation General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (A2) examinations in Year 13, is open to those students who have passed a required minimum of subjects at GCSE with excellent grades.
Students take a maximum of four subjects in their first year (Year 12). We would normally recommend that one of the subjects would be French A Level for native speakers; for those students who intend to study for their degrees in English we also offer a range of additional subjects, taught in English, in preparation for optional Selective examinations.

Our A-Level college is a natural stepping-stone for students following the English curriculum and IGCSE programme. Students must select 4 subjects which are studied in modules. Exams take place at the end of each year (www.edexcel.com). BIIS is an approved teaching and examination centre for EDEXCEL, a major UK exam board, and all examinations take place on BIIS premises. This 2-year programme of study leads to university entrance and is open to students aged 16 and above, of all nationalities and educational backgrounds.
Subjects are offered according to student preferences and include English Language andLiterature, French, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, History, Geography, Economics, Art, and Information Technology, Business Studies.
