BIIS OFFERS THE BRITISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM WHICH WE ADAPT TO OUR LOCAL SETTING
The British Isles International School offers education in English to 5 to 10 year-olds.
Elementary School
The Elementary School provides a warm and caring atmosphere where students collaborate practically, think creatively, reason critically, and communicate effectively. Elementary School at BIIS encompasses ages 5 to 10 years (classes 1 – 6 in the Cameroon system). The program includes a combination of core subjects (English, Mathematics and Science) taught by class teachers, and specialist classes taught by subject specialists in Social Studies, ICT, Music, Art, Physical Education and French
Curriculum
Key Stage 1 Class (1 -2) School years 1&2
Our aim is for children to enjoy their time at school and to develop knowledge, understanding and values in order to reach their full potential in all academic and social areas of school life.
Key Stage 2 (class 3 to class 6)Years3 to Years6 (ages 7-10)
The work of each year group is guided by the appropriate level of the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 1, which is by nature broad and balanced. Subject areas include English Language, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Design and Technology, Art and Craft, Music, Physical Education, Health Education, and Information Technology.
A more structured approach to the day helps children to start learning how to read, write and count in English. We still encourage children to explore and play, but they are able to describe their discoveries in words and numbers
In years 1 to 6, children follow the curriculum outlined in Key Stages 1 and 2 covering a wide range of subjects including
Mathematics, English, French, Science, Humanities, ICT (Computers), Visual Arts, Music and Physical Education. View full syllabus details.
Our small class sizes permit our teachers to tailor their lessons to suit individuals’ abilities and learning styles. The positive and supportive environment
